الأمم المتحدة تنتخب رسمياً برهم صالح مفوضاً سامياً للاجئين
انتخبت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، اليوم الخميس، الرئيس العراقي السابق برهم صالح لمنصب المفوض السامي للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، لفترة مدتها خمس سنوات تبدأ في 1
يناير 2026 وتنتهي في 31 ديسمبر 2030 خلفا للإيطالي فيليبو جراندي الذي يقود المفوضية منذ 2016.
وقال الرئيس العراقي السابق، في بيان عبر حسابه على منصة إكس، “يشرفني انتخابي مفوضا ساميا للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، بصفتي لاجئا سابقا أدرك تماما كيف يمكن للحماية
والفرص أن تغير مجرى الحياة”.
وأكد برهم صالح أن مسؤوليته الأولى ستكون تجاه اللاجئين وغيرهم من المشردين قسرا، من خلال حماية حقوقهم وكرامتهم وإيجاد حلول دائمة لضمان أن يظل النزوح وضعا مؤقتا وليس مصيرا
دائما.
من جانبه أعرب محمد شياع السوداني رئيس الوزراء العراقي عن تقديره لاختيار صالح مفوضا ساميا جديدا للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، مؤكدا أن هذا الاختيار يبرهن على أن العراق يمكن أن
يساهم بشخصياته السياسية والاعتبارية في وضع الحلول وتقديم الدعم والعون الأممي للاجئين في العالم.
